Here you go then, aftermath pictures from Thruxton.

You may recall it happened on the exit of Church, the quickest corner there and arguably the quickest in UK motorsport. Vid here if you haven't seen it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxAFrb2nioI

And this is what it did to my car...

Got it home eventually and have started picking away at the damage...

Bloody grass has got everywhere. The wishbone is attached at both ends: look how much it has deformed blink.gif

Attached Image

Engine was still running at the end despite this damage to the timing case

Attached Image

Other side of engine bay didn't escape: chassis leg (less!) distorted, grass everywhere and rad smashed.

Attached Image

Yet to get engine out (is tricky as mount by timing case shattered into a thousand pieces) so can't fully assess but with the damage you can see around the turret I'm pretty sure her time is done.

I just watched your video and it seems like you got side swiped by that 916 GTV.. How did he land up in such a bad angle on the track? looks like he was rear ended from behind.

Sad to see your car looking so damaged and I suppose all the suspension parts aren't reusable in another body if you were to go that route? That was a hard shunt and I think the 145 handled such a massive amount of force quite well whistle.gif

Sorry about your loss Will

That's a lot worse than I'd imagined it to be. Clearly far too much work / expense to sort that out (if indeed it was even possible). It's an absolute miracle the cambelt and engine weren't taken out.

I can see an angle grinder coming in very handy to get the engine out.

I'm sure it won't be long before you've got zagman's old car into a shipshape condition to start racing again.

If you start from 1.30, it looks like the silver 156 nudges the GTV to cause it rant.gif

Not sure, the silver one has passed the GTV and if you listen you can hear a bang just before the GTV hits the 145?

Had a little dig around and think a 147 hit the GTV from behind?

Can't really comment on blame or anything but all I saw was a car coming across the track at right angles.

Anyway it's all over now: here are some photos.

Sad times sad.gif

So - did the hub survive wink.gif

--------------------
Websites are like a**eholes, everyone has one, and im wary of any bloke trying to direct people into their's.

The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride...' And we ... kill those people.

Cheers, bolted through cheap nasty joists all bought to move another heavy pallet due in tomorrow.

And of course I'm not giving up! biggrin.gif Because it's another black one, to the untrained eye it may eventually all look as though nothing ever happened.
