Where's the option for "just after I read a thread on what happens if you don't check oil...." wink.gif

--------------------
Websites are like a**eholes, everyone has one, and im wary of any bloke trying to direct people into their's.

The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride...' And we ... kill those people.

i thought this thread might make people think, if the other didn't already! it seems as though 2 weeks might not be often enough! mine didn't used to use much, until 'that' time... misterious... 13 days after checking, its below min... but anyway, drifting off again.

to be honest Dave, I'm unconvinced that, for no other reason, the oil on your car would go from max to min in normal usage, over one or two weeks, even on a car that suffers heavier than normal oil consumption.

There is a tendency for it to remain at the same level for ages, then drop, but not by that amount. I mean, I drove 500 miles across Europe, blasted round the Nurburgring, then drove 500 miles back, over a 5 day period and I had to put only a tiny bit of oil in it, when I got back. Even doing largely local town driving at home, I only have to put a bit in every now and again.

Am sure your engine failure is due to another reason. What that is will probably never be known, but I don't think, on this occasion it would be due to a failure on your part in checking the oil........

Good thread though chap, I think this and the main thread may make some people think!

It could be due to something like a cracked sump or oil that has been let out some other way.

In two weeks I doubt very much that the oil can go from full, down to an engine damaging level, unless it was thrashed around allmost non stop biggrin.gif

It could be that there was two different types of oil in it.

Maybe it would be a good idea to start a post like this every 2 weeks to remind everybody smile.gif. I checked mine a couple of days ago, bit confused though cos when I first pulled the dip stick it was a bit above min. Then I wiped it put it back in and the oil was at the above max mark, then a gap and then oil again at the below min mark huh.gif
