Just getting quotes from garages, but what does everyone reckon the cost of a clutch replacement will be on the 2.0TS?

I was thinking £500 would be the upper end so probably about right then. I've had one estimate so far for £780 from my local specialist which I think is just far too much. It's a shame as they've done plenty of work to my alfa's over the years and I trust them to get to do a good job. I once went to a local gearbox specialist for a replacement gearbox, clutch, DMF on my Brera (don't buy a brera unless you have prepared for financial pain!) and when I got it back they hadn't plugged the reversing light cable back in, had thrown away the battery blanket and a year later when changing the brakes I noticed the AR bar wasn't bolted down properly from when they dropped the subframe. I suppose what I'm saying is I don't mind paying a bit more for a good job with somebody I trust, but not £300 more! Will look for more quotes and reviews.

Itís always safer going to a specialist, over the years Iíve had a lot of work done by Avanti in Ipswich. Always honest and reliable, too far for you but there must be someone local and as you say maybe worth paying a little more for there knowledge of the marque.

I paid £400 seven years ago - the clutch was around £100 and the rest is for labor costs. Its the time taken to do it that costs.
Good luck

Well booked into a garage local to where I work for £568. They done a couple of things for me on the G in the past and a clutch is clutch I suppose so they didn't seems phased by my old 145.

Fingers crossed then, Vroom- let us know what happens

I'd be tempted to go in halfway through, and get some pictures...

I think the £780 is the Ďwe donít want that jobí price.
It might be worth shopping around for a discount on a clutch.
I donít think that much change would be left from £500 for fitting.
Thankfully once done it should last yonks.

Well I had the car back for 2 hours and then noticed a leak from the gearbox drain plug so back into the garage. In the brief time I had it I couldn't believe the difference. They had to change the slave cylinder so an extra £50, but the clutch now is incredibly light and feels fantastic. Apparently it took 2 guys a whole day to do it thanks to seized bolts and the usual old car stuff, but they honoured the original quote so maybe £780 wasn't too far off.
It would have been nice to see the work in action and take some photos for this forum, but I had to get back to work unfortunately. It was a subframe and gearbox out job apparently.
