The heater in my new 145 only works on the fourth setting. The heater blower motor just doesn't do anything on the lower settings regardless of whether it's set to hot or cold. Do I need to replace the whole thing?

Any ideas?

There is a resistor that burns out and than the fan only works on the 4th setting wich is direct (no resistors to slow it down).

Looks kinda like this:

Looking through the service history, I'm sure it's had it one of them before. Where is that located on the car?

Think I've found the part on eper, 60810790. I'll be off down the dealers tomorrow I think!

If it's on the fan it'll be a right pita to get at I presume...

Cool, thanks Giallo. I've got the green bit with the two bolt holes and the single plug connector. Is that the right part?

I'm not sure to be honest as I've never had to replace mine. Might be worth you posting up a picture and then maybe someone else who has replaced it can confirm if it's the correct part or not.

Sorted. The boss was late today so changed it in the car park. The fan is really noisy though so that will probably pack up soon! Lost a bit of my socket set as well so carpets coming up tomorrow. Thanks for the help everyone!

What could be the problem if none of the speeds work suddenly?
- Heater motor packed up (was somewhat noisy on very cold mornings, but would stop whining after a couple of minutes)?
- Relay problem?
- Thermal fuse blown? (or does this cause only the 4th speed to work)?

Any ideas?

(car is a 96' with manually operated conditioner)

Turned out to be a loose connector at motor. Probably the diagnostics guy failed to plug it in back properly, or a passanger somehow managed to pull the wire.
