So... it's looking like the "where" is going to be somewhere in the Midlands... what about the "when"???

okay-

well broadly speaking;

the timing & location of such an event might come down to whether we fancy a forum-based meetup, or something piggy backed onto a wider more established meet of some kind.

(I daresay we could reach out to the wider Alfa 145 / 6 community also; to further swell interest)

with full credit to the AROC listings; the more established meets might include;

Spring Alfa Day at Beaulieu on the 14th April

Donnington Historics in Derby on May 3rd > 5th

Brooklands Auto Italia in Weybridge on 4th May

SouthWest Alfa Day at Beaminster on 19th May

Cotswold Alfa Day at Compton Verney on the 16th June

National Alfa Day at Bicester on the 19th June

(and then on and on)

each of these events is of course more or less convenient depending on where you live- OR we can dance to our own tune and do something in the middle of the country which is relatively convenient for everyone.
Looking at the locations of the 'fringe' members (geographically); the relative distance between Vroom in North Wales & MrMarkyt in Brighton is 205 miles as-the-crow-flies, and between SteveG in Bridgewater & Sanitary in Hull is 211 miles. So each of those folk are going to have to travel 'about' 100 miles to a central spot- IF we did it like that...

what'd'ya think?

revised map shows Donnington (upper red pin) and Bicester (lower red pin)

[sorry]

this post takes the form of a BUMP, as they say on forums, as I seemed to have typed my last post twice, and modified it to read as now above; but the forum-IT didn't register it as a new post.

Hi All

I can be flexible, donít mind travelling, over the years gone to many shows in the north of England from Colchester, even Holland a couple of times so distance for me is not an issue. I am away mid to end of June taking my Alfasud to Lake Garda, returning in time for National Alfa Day.

You don't mention how many hundreds of miles it will be for you Jim!! You'd be looking at 500ish to Beaminster?

I've got no problem travelling a few miles. Donnington sounds like an interesting event - discount tickets available from AROC. How many of us are AROC members? I am.

I'm almost certainly going to both Donington in May and National Alfa Day in June so very happy to meet up with you guys at either or both!

Plus, I'll be on a road trip to Italy in mid-July that has got "Alfa 166" written all over it (except annoyingly I've just realised it will clash with the British GP weekend... unsure.gif )

If we really want to do this, I'm AROC organiser for the Yorkshire Section. We're just about to go to press with the announcement for our fourth annual Italian Car and Motorcycle Day (ITCAM 4) at Newby Hall near Ripon on June 2 that we organise each year. The venue is ideally located just off the A1 so access is no problem.

Setting aside an area for the 145s and 146s wouldn't be a problem so you can consider it done. More news on the event very soon.

An idea of numbers would be handy so let me know if you're interested. It'd be nice to have our 145s and 146s as the featured model at ITCAM 4.

thanks for that, Junior TS-

That's a great offer (especially for me)- but I suspect it may be too far up the country for most folk...?

Yes, that is a good offer. We should check out the other regional AROC groups to see what other events are taking place.

For example: Cotswolds AROC are holding their annual meeting near Stratford-Upon-Avon in mid June.

This is looking good. I'm ok on the travelling. I'm ok with the Yorkshire Italian do as it's nearer to yourself. It would be nice invade the Spring Alfa Day en mass but I appreciate it's in Hampshire. A show of force at an AROC event though I am not a member would be good. Be cool to show that 145 and 146s are kicking ass ohyes.gif

Thanks for that, Jeremy, Ganz-

Let's let this simmer for a bit and get some more opinion back from the community.

Maybe some of the community further South...

I'm from Yorkshire - any excuse to go back is good! biggrin.gif

I'm treasurer for the Somerset section of AROC - I'll be assisting with South West Alfa Day (SWAD) in Beaminster - already included in the list of potential meets

We're making the 145/146 the featured Car of the Show at IT-CAM 4 this year at Newby Hall. There'll be a dedicated area for any 145 or 146 arriving at the event. It's there for you...
