I'm actually going to try for, wait for it...

Alfa 155 gauges!

The 155 dash has everything you could want...

(and before someone says; 'you can't do that- the gauges don't separate'- Its true they don't, but it doesn't mean it isn't possible...

It's got the oil temp and pressure. Sounds like a good project. Would you have them in separate dials like the VDO dials.

I was thinking of an ammeter but the risk of an electrical fire put me off.

'an electrical fire'!

Ha! don't let that put you off! I'm not sure I've seen an ammeter on a car...? I saw one on a fire engine once...

You'd get a period Veglia voltmeter from an Alfa; but that's not as important I don't think- by the time it tells you anything; it's too late isn't it!?

Yeah-I'm hoping for separate dials; in the ashtray in fact, so I can retract them for the standard look..!

Not sure they'll fit though... looking into it now.

see my other 'instruments' thread...

I do like the look of the veglia gauges. Some of the ones I've seen on ebay look like aviation gauges with the aviation font. Really coolio.

Like these?

Yes. I like the look of that gauge. Already getting bored of the VDO gauges I haven't even used yet lol!

Anymore detail on the sender. I take it it has got the 1.00mm pitch on the thread.

Luvvley!

The ammeter.. it's a gauge thing: to fit as many gauges as possible. Only thing I don't fancy a 60amp wire coming in to the cabin. Maybe drop the ammeter idea.

I've just made adapters for mine, the tapped hole in the head [above the thermostat] is M10x1.25 [parallel thread.Although the plug that came out is tapered]

M10x1.5 is a standard M10 thread
M10x1.25 and M10x1.0 is Metric Fine

Photo of the adapter attached

I cannot find any adapters on the tinternet that have the 1.25mm thread for the plug hole so will get my local engineering firm to make one up.

The sender came from Greece....I havent had time to power it all up yet so I dont know if that sender will work. I expect it will but they're a bit of an odd type. I sent a picture of the gauge to the supplier and they confirmed that the sender was correct. Yes it is m10x1.0 thread. I'll look back through my purchase history and find the supplier.... Original on the Fiat 124 coupe.

Sender unit...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-oil-pressure-sender-for-Veglia-gauges-sensor-Fiat-Alfa-Romeo-bulbo-olio-/261425984739?hash=item3cde33f4e3:g:4DcAAOxyUrZSvqBs

I used to go to Greece each year and the second thing I noticed after the women were the number of Alfas there. In the UK it's German cars that are everywhere. Saw my first QV Giulia in Greece. Well nice it looked.

..I wasn't popular with my Greek missus. I tried to tell her I was just looking at the Alfas.
