Where is everyone?
I think we 145/6 owners are getting thin on the ground. This is the only Alfa forum that I’m registered on and I’m wondering if you guys get to chat about 145 topics on other forums?
I’ve seen names from here on Alfaowner although they seem not to post here anymore. I guess the 145 is sold so they move on to a newer model. I’ve only noticed that because of google searches looking for answers to my many problems. I had to say that this site offers the greatest help.
Along this line I have to say a huge thanks to GE for his foresight in getting guys to download photos to this site rather than hosted by a third party. I have seen other forums just about ruined because the photos are no longer there. So this forum is kept as a valuable resource thanks to GE.
So, am I missing anything by not joining other forums?

I decided to archive my 145 restoration (if you can even call it that) to this forum because it is specialised for 145.

The only other forum I post is my country's fan club forum.

There is quite a big group on Facebook though.

Admittedly; it's a slow time of year, for this age of car, so to speak

Other forums 'skirt' with our model, but consistently I find (you are right) the legacy knowledge you can search on here, is unparalleled

I'm on Alfa Owner too, but this resource goes into far more detail

Yep, this place is a valuable source of information and I do appreciate the efforts of the guys who took the time to post their great threads. I’m in the midst of several jobs just now and I would’ve come to a grinding halt if not for here.
I’m on Pistonheads mostly but it is for s**t and giggles rather than technical information.

I think it's been said on here before that if we ever lost this forum (I've no idea how it's hosted) we'd lose an invaluable source of information. I'm also on Alfaowner for my other cars and have been since 2002. I recently bought a Giulia and came across a totally separate forum which I think is mainly for US owners and has far too many "lounges" for my liking. Why on earth the Americans didn't just stick to Alfaowner, in the same way that all nationalities of 145 owners use this one, I don't know! Long live the 145Forum

Excellent point about looking on a 156 forum for engine stuff. Is the 159 also a twin spark?
There is a thread running (recently started) on PistonHeads about forums and their demise.
A lot of posts say that Facebook has taken people away from the old fashioned forums.
A downside is that old messages drop off the bottom which then loses useful information.
Is there a group for the 145? Maybe I need to get out more!
I don’t know how many active members are still here but it’s still my ‘go to place’.
I’m hardly prolific on any forums but I will try to contribute as and when.
The value of this thread can’t be overstated. At the moment I have the lower dash board removed on my 1.6 to fix the heater and fan. It would’ve been a nightmare with the helpful guides and photos (cheers again GE) on here.

no; I think the 159 is into the GM-era of engines; I'm not sure any T-spark gear lives on in this cars...

There is a facebook group for the 145 /6 - admittedly it does sees a lot of traffic; which is mostly EU based, as the car continues over there in seemingly 'vast' numbers.


However, when the guano-comes-down, as it has with a couple of my own tickly problems- water-in-my-NS-floorwell; pictures required of lower engine bay with engine out;

It was Ganz that delivered.

I have 'an identity' with Facebook specifically (and only) for the 145/6 forum; but I'm probably on it for ten minutes a month- it's not been an enormous use to me so far.


ANYWAY- I've never been on any other resource, on any other platform-online; where it SNOWS in December!! Isn't that ace!!!

Hi Harpo
I don't bother with any of the other forums as they service all sorts of different models I'd be lost. I like the layout of the Alfa 145/46 forum that we have and tbh I like that it's exclusive 145/6.

The facebook 145/6 pages are good for pics but you wouldn't post 'How to' tutorials on them and I dislike the scroll down method of FB that takes an age to find anything. So FB not the ideal replacement I thought it would be. Its sad when long time members leave like Black146 - one of the best 145's on the forum and GE was a regular too and the Oracle of 145/6 knowledge.

Keep this forum going boys, they'll always be new members - its a world wide service.

Just echoing what you said earlier Dante. The great thing I like about the 145/6 forum is the brotherhood. We all one one thing in common: our passion for the 145 and 146. If we met at an event I feel there would be a good chance i would know who you are (forum wise). The other Alfa forums are so big they'd be hundreds of people I would never have heard of and probably not in the vaguest interest in meeting. I like how we got a strong hardcore of members that are also international. Long may it continue

Unfortunately I lost the content of an old hard-drive (still have it but the reader heads are stuck), on that I had all my Alfa day's pictures. We all met quite a few times. Annual Alfa 145 meet at a pub down south twice, National Alfa day, A meet on the snakes pass in the peak district where Geo from up from London with his boot open all the way carrying a spare door for somebody, East Kirkby airfield, although I think that was with AO. I'll see what I can find now...

Agree with Dante, a HD rescue might not be as expensive as you think these days

Snake's Pass would be a good meet.
I have some photos of the 145 forum boyz from SAD 2013 and NAD 2014, I was a bit shy then and lurked in the background with the missus. Here are some pics. I don't know Langers if your car was in the pics. They were defo the forum members.

R501HAN looked great on 17" wheels. Along with the blue one it was the best condition 145 there I reckon - I think the blue one bit the dust through rust and welding needed. There was a red ph2 145 there for sale for £300 and it had black leather Momo seats. Regretted not buying that

I think there are pics of R501HAN on this forum from when you owned it. Some nice pics - shame the "garage" menu has been shutdown.

I've been off the forum for a few years because house DIY has been over drive. Just before I moved to my new house, I got the floorpan welded, and to achieve that, the interior all came out (except front seats went back in).
And since the MOT lapsed that year, my little 145QV has been SORN. However, this year is the year and my plan is to get it back on the road. It's been under a carport and hasn't moved, so it's filthy but has been dry. The reason the interior went on hold is because I'm stripping all the old insulation and tar out, and putting in new sound deadening etc.

I discussed the plan with the wife this week, and we've agreed that March/April should be targetted to get the thing running again!
