Hi, can anyone help me with air conditioning filter position, I want to change it but don't know where it is? I also heard that there are two filters, one "normal" and one polen filter, is that the same or not? Thx!

as far as im aware the pollen filter is the filter, pre pollen filter cars dont even have a "normal" filter. it should be under the scuttle panel {passenger side} but it isnt always fitted, have come across a few 145's with a/c and no provisions for a pollen filter

Any pictures? My English isn't so good I don't handle well with exact terms like "scuttle panel"? Or explanation?

Any pictures?

To remove the scuttle panels and replace the pollen filter...

See page 180 here: Removal/Refitting of the Air Intake Grilles

Then see page 30 here: Replacing the Pollen Filter

It's used to filter out any moisture or other contamination in the aircon refrigerant and/or oil. You do not need to replace this filter unless you have a problem with your aircon and are having the refrigerant replaced.

You can not just change the drier in the air con system is you will mess it up if you get air in the system. It needs to be done by an air con specialist.
Really it should be vacuumed down, changed and filled with nitrogen to pressure test and then re filled with refrigerent once happy no leaks.

Hardly anyone does it properly any more, they just bang the gas in!!

I changed pollen filter a couple of days ago, and air intake filter for engine yesterday. But what's bugging me is that I've heard that air intake system for the engine has two filters, one "main" that I changed yesterday and one prefilter which is based just beside front bumper. Is this true, and how to get to that filter?

That's the "resonator". It's a sealed unit and you don't need to change it. It's there purely for EU noise restriction on newly sold cars. Mine is removed completely and has been replaced with a straight through pipe wink.gif

So, if I remove resonator and replace it with straight through pipe I'll get louder engine and much better air flow?

Well, that sounds nice smile.gif I'm not big fan of tuning, I like to keep everything OEM, but this pipe is very tempting smile.gif are there any disadvantages when you install this pipe? Regarding engine power and torque? I cannot buy this pipe in my country, that's sure, does anyone have link for online shopping?

Can I just remove the resonator and have the same effect?

No, because the hole where the resonator connects into the airbox will be nearer to the engine bay. This will draw in warmer air than it would do with a pipe that goes out under the wing. Warm intake air = lower performance.

The pipe is no longer available from Alfa anyway but you can do as others have and make up something yourself. As long as it seals properly onto the airbox then any type of flexible open pipe will do.

Do you have dimensions of the pipe, I'll try to make it myself then blush.gif

What about performance when you do this change?
