What could be the reason for my car trying to stall on the first start of the day. It fires up at around 1300rpm, brings them down to 850 and the back up to 1200-300 and blipping the throttle doesn't do anything but is sounds like it has too much air being sucked. Could it be fuel related? I used to do it every now and the but now it's constant. I've also noticed it fires superbly at around 75-80C. Yesterday it happened again, but this time i tried flooring it while it was bringing the revs down and i started making sound like it was misfiring. Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Have you tried unplugging the MAF? If you have and it makes no difference then my next suspects would be the Idle Stepper Motor and/or the Coolant Temperature Sensor.

Have you run any engine ECU diagnostics on the car?

I haven't tried without the MAF, idle motor works fine, I've been suspecting the coolant temperature sensor for a while now. But a few days back I tried flooring it as the revs went down and it started poping from the exhaust and it stalled..

I have exactly the same problem with mine. Just replaced the MAF with a brand new genuine Bosch one. No difference. I've plugged into MultiECUScan and there are no faults. Reset all parameters including Idle stepper. No difference, and it idles at a perfect steady 850. I've ordered a new coolant temp sensor. I'll post here again when it's fitted!. If you get to the bottom of it on yours please let me know!

I've just been to the car plugged the MES, no fault, unplugged the MAF. The engine started brilliantly, and a few moments in the error code for the MAF came up, plugged it back in error code cleared all was fine. I noticed when the stall issue is present the variator rattles on start up and when the engine starts fine there is no rattle could it have sth to do with the variator solenoid not working/clogged. The FRA and TRA factors were 11.2 and 38, one of them had a (-) but can't remember which one. They are different this time. Last time they were 7 and 33.
