You're right, it could - I'm only annoyed because I put the new headlights in to avoid alignment issues! That's Alfa's for you I guess! Where did you get the headlights from, Steve - were they new or used? Also - I recently bought a genuine washer pump to replace the crap aftermarket unit I bought initially. Not cheap but definitely worth spending the extra cash: https://www.shop4parts.co.uk/?name=store&am...1&sku=40565 This post has been edited by JeremyG: 23rd January 2019 22:30 |

hopefully get these back on my motor Really like the wheels. Love the body kit too ![]() Hi all, My plans are to make a start on a non-runner restoration project, usual itinerary such as: * External body work. * Floor pans. * Subframes and suspension. * Interior. * Engine. I made a start just before Christmas by stripping the interior to help dry the floor out before much more is done. Trying to find a local resource to weld the floorpans - any recommendations? I’ve also removed the engine and while waiting to sort the welding, decided to work on the engine. I’ve actually got 1.1/2 engines (1x 90,000 mile runner and 1/2 a 68,000 mile non-runner) and hope to get the lower mileage one up together and do a leak down test to make sure all’s Ok, anyone carried out a test like this before? Tips/advice would be appreciated 😉. Not sure whether to get the underneath shot blasted or soda dipped, just in case there are any hidden nasties. I know it means removing the subframes and suspension, does anyone think it would be worth doing? One of the main problems I face is trying to take the car anywhere, it’s basically a rolling shell and will cost a fortune to trailer anywhere, so ideally looking for services in the Southampton area - again, any recommendations? Need to complete it by April 2021, as my twin daughters want to be taken to their prom in it - no pressure then 😳😬 and good choice girls! 👍 I'll post some updates as and when the project progresses and perhaps see you at some of this years events. Welders.. they're all bloody expensive and the one I had did a 'sufficient' job. -------------------- G A N Z 145

Well... I also bought a NOS headlamp last year (from the AROC parts website) - which also came with a broken adjuster. I guess they have all aged and the plastic is prone to breaking whether they have been used or not. And when the adjuster breaks, the headlights point downwards... In the end I bought a new pattern headlamp for a LHD car and swapped in the glass lens and the low beam reflector unit from my original Alfa RHD unit. So it least it looks like an original part from the outside... it's now noticeably brighter than the original unit on the other side... Took the lights off today, cracked them open (not literally!) - all 4 adjusters snapped. They are just so brittle. I'd previously bought a pair of these from fleabay:headlight adjusters Absolute crap, nothing like the right shape. Sent for a set of the Bulgarian ones, hoping they don't get lost! |
