Hi All,

Believe it or not, I've sold the 145 I've been recommissioning over the last year or so...!

It's kind of finished, and a potential buyer had left a note on my windscreen last year - and a couple of phone calls later, he's agreed to buy it.

I've had a great time getting it back on the road again, and I've really enjoyed sharing the work and reading about the other projects under way via this site. It's really an amazing resource, and there is an amazing community feel to the Forum. Long may that continue!

Anyhow, a couple of things occur to me:

1) Firstly, there are a bunch of suppliers I've come across during my project - most of whom I've name checked in my thread. However - I'm going to summarise them in a single post as a reference. I'll add this to my own post, then create a new thread elsewhere on the forum so it can be added to as needed.

2) I'll have a selection of unused parts available once the 145 goes so I'll make these available to Forum owners first. (These will include the black Speedline wheels I purchased recently - the new owner wanted the car on its original wheels.) I'll post more info on these items next week!

So - I'll leave you with a couple of photos of the car taken on the way back from Southern Alfa Day last weekend.

Arrivederci!

Thanks Jeremy for the massive article you wrote and kept updated. Sadly even though I am going through a similar restoration job, I don't have the time or patience to be as detailed as you documenting my endeavors. But, I can report that the key learning worked by taking your key transponder codes, changing a digit on the end (and then again for the second key) and the ALFA CODE system was happy to learn them (just make sure you follow the procedure exactly - first time round I removed the master on the final step without leaving it in Stop for at least 4 seconds so the codes were not saved)

Right, the 145 has just been collected by its new owner and will end up in Bournemouth in the very near future.

I'm sure I'll regret selling it, but it somehow felt the right time to let it go.

So, what's next? Not sure, but I've had a few ideas already...

Nope - although I do fancy another 146... maybe this one:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Romeo-146-1...99/303135581098

(36k miles??? Amazing!)

I've also got my beady eyes on:

- A widebody 155
- A 3.0 GTV
- A 2.0 GT JTS (I've never had a car with a JTS motor before...)

I'd expect it to get near 2k.

The owner has all three keys for it and a bunch of service history. I wonder if it's rusty underneath?

Anyhow - I've just this morning purchased a silver GT with a blown head gasket from Alfa Aid in Maidenhead. The next project begins!

JTS-

that's 'new' isn't it!? Or, at least it's newer than anything I've owned!

No- sorry; I don't mean to insult your decision;
the GT is a wonderful elegant 2-door car, of which there are only a few in recent times, from our stable

I know a chap who has a Blackline, in fact; I particularly like the instruments labelled 'benzina' and suchlike...
quite well spec'd; BOSE setup and stuff like that

What colour Jeremy- and chance of a picture?

Yes, it's a 2007 car - the youngest I've bought in years!!!

This one is silver with black leather. The previous owner took it in to Alfa Aid for just under 2k of work in January this year (including all four front suspension arms and parts of the exhaust) after which the head gasket went. Having just spent pretty much what the car was worth, they decided to cut their losses and get rid. So, it's on its way over to me this afternoon!

The JTS motor seems to have the same block as the TS (and the cambelt gubbins is all the same, by the look of things) so it looks like the head is the main difference. And it only has four spark plugs...

I'll take some pics once I've got it cleaned up...

and look, no coolant...!

... so, that's the thing to fix first (Alfa Aid tell me they've diagnosed a blown head gasket).

'acqua' & 'giri', I love it

that's a peach; there's a lot of technology in that isn't there...

I don't remember a 'mode' button on the 146!!

a lovely example- very understated in silver I think

well done- good find...

Thanks, I'll let you know how I get on with it.

I've literally no idea what the mode button does - I haven't got a handbook for the car...

The mode button is for controlling the digital display on the dash. Nothing exciting!
