THIS is the week, when it all begins.

Since I got my 146, a month or two ago, a major job has been hanging over it. See below.

Fortunately, I nice man on eBay, sold me this..

And I have been waiting for my slot with McLennans for three weeks. D-day, is this Wednesday.

As it happens, there are many more things to weld on the car, and in the end; it might not even be save able ! But we've got to start somewhere, and this is the worst bit...

Gosh Nigel-

That makes my adventure look like a 'bit of a laugh' compared to that effort!

Good to see you've still got intact front lower bumper mounts.

I'll need those looked at too, but that's a bit further down the road...

Just finished the 3rd POR-15 coat, ahead of tomorrow's work;

I have to say it was a lot worse than i expected i thought it was just a small part of the floor pan and the inner arch.
Fingers crossed that's it now for a few years.

But i am sure it was worth it

thanks Nigel,

this 1st stage transforms the car, once I've added a couple of road-legal back tyres, and some new brake flexibles, from a 'deathtrap' to a 'rattler'.

and then I would have my kids in it...!

I've still heard nothing- I wonder if they can nail it in two days...?

You'll be fine. A great part of my 3 year rebuild has been de-rusting and replacing old rusty metal. Worst spots on mine were the floor pan and the rear wheel arches where the rear seat belt anchor bolts on to and the front bumper pillars.

Yeah,

Very much so. They had used just the very top section of the part I had obtained- if anything; the corrosion was slightly 'less' than imagined...

Hopefully they can find the cause of the slight knocking when turning to the right on roundabouts which is also from the NS front.

They said it wasn't obvious so far.

Then, the next stage, is whether some money should go into brakes next, or tyres...
