Don’t know if somebody noticed but you can clearly see that it is a Frankenstein combo unsure.gif . The donor engine is pulled out of a 33, the other one from a 146 and its now fitted in a 145. coolio.gif

As you look closely you can see that I have a 33 alternator, throttlebody and crank pulley.

BTW.

Real pain in the ass to mod a 145 throttle position sensor to fit a 33. rant.gif

A little update,

I’m still having idle problems so I thought I would probably be better of getting a new one at the stealers. So yesterday I could pick up the idle control valve at the local dealership with 25% discount, this because the liked the project so mutch laugh.gif . When I arrived he had two control valves. One of a 33 16V and one from a Tspark or something. The little b**tard ordered the wrong one rant.gif . After looking in Eper he found the correct valve, the only problem is that it will have to be shipped from Italy to the Netherlands witch will take a week or so…

I’m slowly getting the feeling that almost all Alfa dealers in the Netherlands are trying to sabotage my build. It’s a conspiracy….. blush.gif

Got some bad news, wrecked one of my heads last week. blink.gif After I hade made a test-drive I found out that I forgot to put one of the torsion bar rubber back in. So I thougt it would be a walk in the park after a complete engine rebuild etc. So, I started to jack up the car when she suddenly shifted ending up resting with her radiator on the jack. The result, a very bend and leaking radiator. This happened of course on a Saturday around 16:00 when all the junkyards and dealers are closed…..
After making some phone calls I found a junkyard nearby witch had a overpriced old radiator on stock, me in the position of needing one very badly paid €80,- for the peace of sh*t. After fitting the radiator it looked all well (no dripping anymore). So I thought I will try to start her up again so I can bleed the cooling system of air.

When I tried to start her I heard a noise coming from the engine compartment while the starter jammed…… rolleyes.gif .., after trying again she started but limped like hell and made a tapping sound. After this I shut her down and checked the timing belts. The sprockets on the left where 40 decrees out of there timing…. unsure.gif Uhm… I still don’t know what hat caused this very bad weekend but I know I don’t trust her anymore. This weekend I will put I new valves (out of my own stock tongue.gif ),fix the exhaust and get a “new” throttle body and sensor. This because I used a TB from a Alfa 33 which I hade to modify to fit the 145 sensor. The sensor mod worked but if I’m going to take the whole thing apart it would be smart to get the original one (Destroyed the fuel line threats in the original one no3.gif ).

Wish me luck, and as always I will keep you guys posted! blush.gif

Changed the bend valve this weekend. Did it just in a few hours, I thing I’m becoming a real boxer expert now. coolio.gif

After assembling the heads, inlet, etc, the car fired right up, the only problem is that its making a ticking sound now in stead of a tapping noise. I haven taken her for a test drive so I think it will be a hydraulic valve lifter (or how do you call them?).

Maybe I will put her back together tonight (if I feel like it) and take her for a test run.

Well i am also swpaing my 1.6 8v for a 1.7 16v engine and i have some problems tha b**tard wont start smile.gif but hopefully i will sort the problem this week. Key code is disabled by cutting the wire to the antena and putting the wires togheter the light dosent light and the engine starts (some teft prevention).

My problem is that i have spark and i have fuel ( but the gas pump is extremly loud) mybe that the injectors are bad on this engine will se smile.gif

But i dont understand why you go to all this trouble buy makening a 1.4. If i have to put the engine apart ill make a godamn 1.9 out of it smile.gif

"buy makening a 1.4 " blink.gif , I'm making a 1700 16V with some sporty mods. The end result will be around 160/170 BHP and the newtonmeter will double. coolio.gif

BTW

Good luck and keep us posted! wink.gif

was a noob on the forum and you had 1.4 16v smile.gif

BTW mount an oil coller if you are modding your engine because there is little oil in the boxer engine it overheats and you have a engine failure

I hope that this project car is still O.K.
You have obviously put loads of work in to it and I wouldn't know where to start. Well done.

I think the item you were referring to is an hydraulic tappet. Could be wrong though unsure.gif

I am going into a rebuild also sad.gif .After localiseing the problem whit not starting , fuel lines full of rust some idiot cut the lines instead of disconeting it properly well all happy i fix this i start b**tard is runing on two cilynders WTF and ia go check all if there is fuel , spark everything OK all what was left to check was what i have feared the most and that was there is no compression on the right side of the engine after mesuring it only one cylinder has full compression . And now once again engine out disasembly checking the b**tard and hopeng to be driveing soone.

Oh but there is good news Alfa code is a pice of s**t you disarm it by cuting the wire on the antena under the key you put the wires together(insulation is a b**tard to remuve) put sm insulation tape over it and its done. Now the electornics works super but the engines mechanical parts are s**t.

Well guys, I think I'm at the end of my conversion project. The engine is running nice except for a little lack of power, this because the MAP sensor is probably faulty. I ordered a new one witch I will try in a day or so. I would like to thank everyone for there support, otherwise this project could not be completed like it did worshippy.gif .

Here, a picture of the engine coolio.gif

What progress have you made since your last update on your website. The last post showed that you disassembled the heads of your engine. Any luck putting the whole thing back together? I'm interested in how your project came together in the end.

JDM, sorry for not keeping my website up to date. I had have my share of problems with timing belts, defect lambda and a faulty MAF sensor. In the meantime I have assembled the heads and the car is running (almost rolleyes.gif ) fine now.
I have done some cosmetics work on the car in the meantime. I have painted the rims in a gray/black metallic paint. It sounds kind of corny but it really looks great. coolio.gif I will try to update my website and post some new pictures here.

Greetzz, Michiel biggrin.gif

EDIT
I'm also busy with a MegaSquirt project for my Bella. The plan is to replace the stock intake manifold for velocity stacks. I heard that the power gain would be somewhat like 30 BHP and the sound would be like.... blink.gif

2' EDIT
Just found a picture of the Rim repair job.
