Hello. any one of you in the crankshaft bore oversize? it is about 1.6-1.7 crankshaft 72mm stroke. There inofrmatsiya that he was treated by nitriding, so it can not grind to a repair size, while it is beyond sound, it is true? Thank you for attention

here is a story of mine 1.7 16v crank:
i spun the connecting rod shell badly so crank journal was not in good condition anymore. my mechanic made/adapted a custom shell as he did not want to grind the crank more than it is grinded by the damage, just polished it, he adapted something from russian volga or smth like that smile.gif (shell is a bit thicker than std, all measurements are perfect). connecting rod is replaced also.

after 5000km i was rechecking the engine and found this custom shell had some damage damn... he made another one. crank was fine.
destruction was done by engine detonation i think (weak shell alloy?), now detonation is eliminated and engine runs perfectly.
