I've been busy with my Subaru as took it to Spa and the Nurburgring in May (videos on my YT: https://www.youtube.com/user/effkay84/videos), but I finally had a trackday in the Alfa at Pembrey on the weekend.

This was the impetus I needed so I changed the rear pads, checked the car over and sorted the worn plasti-dip on my wheels:

I went with my friends in their orange BMW M5 and Mazda MX5 Turbo - below are 2 videos, as well as some pictures from the paddock:

Yeah its gorgeous isnt it! My friend wants to get it to the classic racing series around Europe next year. He's current Welsh Sports and Saloon car champion in a classic mini. Was a shame the gearbox started leaking, but that's what shakedown testing is for.

Out of the 4 cars we knew there, the Alfa was the only one left by the end haha - the mazda wore his pads down to metal, and another friends mazda bbr200's rear shock collapsed! Italian reliability worshippy.gif

Surprising isn't it - to non-Italian owners. Alfa has been building cars longer than most. Looked like a great track day.

Well finally sorted the rattle in my exhaust yesterday - took it back to Pro-Speed Exhausts in Cardiff and it wasn't a failed rear baffle, just loose rear tips which were quickly welded.

The centre silencer was also blowing from cracks at both ends (noticed when putting my Cat back in) which would result in an MOT fail - this was replaced under warranty with a newer version with sliding baffles that allow expansion and should not cause cracking under large heat loads from track days.

So all fixed and no cost for me! Just needs an MOT now...then tax mad.gif Hopefully back to Pembrey on 29th July though coolio.gif

Looking great coolio.gif The black rear badge suits the 145. Going to check the vids out.

Just watched the track day footage. Pretty respectable in the 145. You were getting a lot of straight line speed. What were you topping out at in mph? Like the way you were keeping the atom type cars at bay.

When I evetually get mine on the road we 'll have to organise a track day for forum members - what's left of them. Hopefully that will before I reach retirement age and lose my faculties!

Just took a few photos of the exhaust while replacing the Cat with the straight pipe once I passed the Mot:

Also fitted some new front pads (did the rear before last track day) - found these Brembo's for only 26 with next day delivery on Amazon. Not tried Brembo before as I usually use Pagid or EBC (Green/Redstuff) without issue, but these were half the price. Initial bite felt really good - interesting to see how they hold up on track:

Thanks for sharing this effkay-

terrific stuff.

that really IS a straight-through pipe for the cat-bypass, eh..?

Have you got any internal mods for track-day outings..?

What oil are you running it on..?

Engine wise - no internal mods. Just induction kit, exhaust and believe the previous owner had it chipped, but I have no evidence of that.

I just run 10w40 semi-synthetic - anything thats cheap or on offer I use!

Hi mate. How loud is the car with the straight through. Is it bearable on the roads? Also, from the cat back what have you got and where did you buy it from. I noticed after the cat, or where the cat was, you have a silencer. Is there a silencer too before you back box or does it go straight from that middle silencer to the back box?

Cat or decat pipe > centre silencer > rear back box. That's it.

It was fabricated by a exhaust specialist here in Cardiff.

Not too loud at all - never failed track sounds tests.

Some additional pictures of other cars as ran out of room in new post below:

And some on track shots:

How come I never seen this post. That 5 series, Escort and Mx-5 look amazing.
Must be really fun to throw the 145 round a track.

Forgot to add, the Brembo pads I fitted completely disappeared during the day and left huge dust deposits all over the car - I was left with 1mm of pad by the time I got home. Already ordered some Pagids for 33 delivered as I have never had an issue with them and they usually last 4-5 track days!

People have suggested they were fake but I ordered them via Amazon Prime with next day delivery and the pads and packaging all seems legit and well made. No idea how they would last even 5,000miles of normal road driving!
