Hi

This is really a call for advice and help as I am properly struggling here. PLEASE HELP.
We think my ecu may have been fried when recently a 'friend of a friend' used a MiG welder to repair the floor on my PH 1 145 QV.
Was running fine beforehand, running awfully after. Barely running at all actually.
I will post more details after, but IF I need to replace ECU what sort of job is this? Will need keys and locks also I imagine, but anything else?
Anyone 'in the know' you can recommend for advice or to do the work.
Basically I am desperate here and out of my depth - just want it running properly again.

Based near Chester.

I presume that the battery wasn't disconnected before the welding?

Any fuel pipes or melted wires where the welding was done?

Others on here will know better than me, I think new ECU will need keys but as long as you dont use central locking/alarm you might get away without locks. There are people on here who know how to code keys to ECUs.

Good luck, and post how you get on.
Chris

Thanks Chris

I have been assured snd am pretty confident that battery neg terminal WAS disconnected. But having done some digging it turns out that it is still possible to cause ecu damage when using a MiG welder even when battery disconnected.
Will post more in next few days....

As far as im aware, the key talks to the CODE box (just under the stereo), if the signal matches it says OK to the ECU and allows engine start, so buy both and all, ECU, CODE Box, Keys and locks, but only try fitting the ECU at first, might sort it right away.
