Probably not something everyone will be clamouring for, but I'm quite pleased with having just managed to fit the roof rails and bike racks on the 146.gif

I've yet to fit the actual bikes, of course! But it's another big step to making the car genuinely everyday-useable.

Having said that, after being away this week; I'll be taking it all back off!

Sorry, I know you need them and all that, but, how to ruin the look of a really nice car
at least they come off again

I've got genuine alfa roof bars that came with my 145. I'm tempted to fit them just to see what they look like, but doubt I'll ever use them.

i think it looks great!

Like I should be next to a ski slope wearing a padded jacket and mirrored sunglasses, or unloading a canoe next to a river! Straight out of an Alfa press-shoot from the 90's...

(Bike attachments not withstanding)

But the roof rails have a look all of their own, I think...

omg, what is that?! A roof rack?! Next thing we know dante goes "liberty walk" laugh.gif

Seriously, nice setup! thumbsup.gif Was looking for a roof rack myself. Shame they are rather boxy. Liked roof rack on friend's 156SW - the 156/147/GT had those top of the line genuine aerodynamic ones from their accessories catalogue. I think they were even made by Thule. Looked sleek on the car

brilliant-

Thanks for the positivity, Valdas- not EVERY mod is aesthetic!

Some are 'needs must', and that's what this is, for this week anyway!

Those 156 rails look the business- I wonder if they fix in the same way...?

I could detail the fixings on these ones with a picture, if it might be of use to future generations..?

Slightly off topic, but your front bumpers have a black strip on them.

I've seen some with, and some without these, were they an optional extra?? I have a V and X reg 146ti and neither have these?

Always wondered!

Thanks
Mark..

hey Mark-

Good spotting (my bumpers are 'hanging off' actually, as most of the bolts are out of them at the moment)

Let me ask you this; were your cars both TI's??

'Cos I deliberately wanted (and got) the 1.8- and I think that might be part of the spec...

Jim, you just gave me an idea. The fixing points are exactly the same. Only difference is that the bars are fixed by toggle latch instead of screw. However biggest concern is that 156/147 roof is rounder on the edges and gets narrower at the back. Will ask if he still has them.

As far as I found out after '99 face-lift fully painted bumpers were always installed on Limited, QV, TI, Junior, Edizione Sportiva. For the rest it was left unpainted.

ah, well- I think that might be the difference between Euro-spec cars and UK-spec cars-

If you look at Jeremy's 1.8 PH2 here;

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183172205473?ssP...984.m1558.l2649

You can see it also has non-painted rubbing strips.

Go for it, on the roof rack- let's break new ground!

Hi, yes, both ar the ti model, as you say the strips may have only been for the 1.8, as I saw a 1.8 for sale a while back that had these strips too.

Thanks
Mark..
