Today the 7-pin DIN plug & socket arrived, and so all cables could be tied down.

The gauge 'display' will be able to be unplugged from the car..

Refreshingly, DIN plugs are able to pass through the rear of the ashtray, through existing square holes!

All that remains to be connected now, (other than the senders themselves), are the feeds from the ashtray-light, which provide the backlighting and negative reference for the gauges. I need to think of something clever for this, as I don't want to just 'chop' the wires...

That's very kind!


As it happens- I worked out a way to get the backlight & negative reference off the ashtray light cabling;

I stuffed them into the back of the connector! No harm done / lines cable tied into position, no problemo. I pulled out the now redundant lamp itself.
