Now I may be a bit mad, but a think this would be soooooooo cool to do. coolio.gif biggrin.gif

Every year there is a bike race at the 'Ring. That is a bicycle race, not a motorbike race blink.gif

It runs on the combined Nordschleife and GP-strecke so it's the full 24.4km (15.25 miles). There are actually races over different distances, 3 laps, 6 laps and yes ladies and gentlemen a full 24 HOURS RACE!

Entry cost this year was €25 for the two sprint(!) races, €55 for 24h solo or €210 for 24h team relay.

The only prize money on offer is €500 if you set a new lap record, which for the men currently stands at 1h15m15s.

Next year's event is scheduled for the first weekend in August. Is anyone here brave/mental enough to go for it? I really would genuinely be up for it if anyone else fancies a go as well, just on the 3-lapper.

Websites are like a**eholes, everyone has one, and im wary of any bloke trying to direct people into their's.

The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride...' And we ... kill those people.

I remember the owner of the Forthaus B&B telling me about this lunacy biike race, last year......part of me thought it was a wind up!! laugh.gif blink.gif

I reckon it would be great to see the whole, combined circuit at low speed but I really don't think I'd have the fitness to do even 3 laps!! One at a push, even then......... huh.gif Joel, remember how hard it is getting up Ex-Muhle to Hohe Acht in a car!!!.

Hmmm, don't know if I'm insane enough!!

Actually no. That is definitely wrong. Having re-read it that is the lap record for the one-lap run that takes place on the same weekend! I thought it looked a bit slow but I was too tired to bother working out the average speed when I typed my post.

It seems that there is actually a 20km/h minimum average speed that must be maintained to be classified as a finisher, and the winners ceremony takes place only 3 hours after the start! There is no mention of a bicycle lap record.

I still want to do it smile.gif
