Hi,

Has anyone got a double DIN radio fitted to their 145? I have a good kenwood double din from my old car and I was hoping to use it again. I know that the airbag ecu is behind and would need relocating. How easy is this to do? Has anyone done it?

Thanks, Matt

take the tray out under the radio then its just two screws that hold it down you can turn it on it side then prush it back in to the dash

Oh crap....forgot about the gauges! I'll have to have a look and rethink. Not sure if they are connected up or not but i'll find out soon enough.

Do you really need guages.. if you like your stereo then get it fitted.. besides as an alfa it wont give you any warning when it goes wrong so guages are just for decoration

I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.

The problem I have is that the hole is 2.5 DIN and there is nothing to mount the radio to. So i'll have to see if I can make something up :/

Another issue you might face is if the stereo is deep then the angle it has to go in at means it may foul on the cente console behind where your gauges are (the part of the cosole that the airbag is mounted on). There have been reports of this being an issue from other owners who have also fitted double-din stereos. Just make sure you do your measurements first before ordering one. If there is going to be a fouling issue then it might be possible to hack away part of the centre console behind the gauges but that's something else you would need to check on.
