January - March 2015
SuperPro Poly bushes for my Fiat ARBs On the powder-coated ARB Also got some SuperPro (I think they were the same company) drop link and poly bushes. Time to decide what to do with the old steel brake lines.. NF's cool looking 145 QV Lancia Dedra brake calipers look exactly like the 145s. Wish I could get hold of those brake dust shields. Decided to replace the old corroded steel brake pipes. Cut them off so no going back now. Gulp! This was one job I dreaded - indeed, I thought I took on more than I could handle. After lots of practice with different types of flanges and familiarising myself with the tools it was quite enjoyable. I started with copper but then.. I used the hand held flanging tool which is quite good and will enable me to flange on the car too. Tested them to make sure everything was air tight. The pipes will make their own seal. I got some copper nickel (Kunifer). At first I couldn't really work with this but I started to get used to it and before long I had confidence and was making replacement piping. If anyone wants some cheap copper roll I've got nearly 2 rolls. I'll sell them for a tenner. Really enjoying working with Kunifer now. Comparing the copper, original steel and Kunifer flanges Making the replacement pipes The Kunifer is much stronger than copper and more resistant to corrosion and doesn't get brittle like copper. The tools I used. It's a Sunday morning job whilst watching repeats of Wheeler Dealers. It doesn't get better than that! looking good once it's done you will have a well sorted car ![]() ![]() Are you going to paint the brake calipers . ? as they are off Calipers are going to be red. If I had to chance to paint them again it would be yellow. The way I see it once I'm done I'll have a well sorted car that will go for another 20 years. The only other thing to look at will be the engine cam belt replacement which I can't wait to do myself. Good work! ![]() Cheers mate! -------------------- G A N Z 145

i did ask him if could make the dust covers in stainless but he said the metal was to hard to shape left him a message Interestingly, I asked a couple of places about making and flanging brake pipe but they'll only work with copper. Cunifer (copper nickel) is not that much harder to work with once you get used to it. Copper, if you had to reshape it, as you do sometimes when you don't quite get the contour of the original pipe right, always feels like it's lost some of its strength. April 2015
Time to replace the front struts. Old strut came out really easily 20 years of use. Underneath seems in good condition. Supporting the front axle De-rusted the front axles Comparing the lowered FK springs to the original springs. Seems quite a drop.. ![]() New goodies! The new struts are also lower More new items for the front struts Decided the replace the strut bearings, bump stops and strut mount with new items. The spring rubbers I cleaned up. Sizing things up Decided to fabricate my own front dust guards and brackets for the struts for the ABS cable New discs going on all round New brake hoses too. Powder-coated the rear dust guards and petrol tank straps. Got the springs put on. Hope these aren't going to be too hard! Repaired holes in rear wings and painted. Painted underneath but only where treated and needed. Routed the new brake lines I started with the front of the car. I had to take the throttle body intake hose to get better access to routing the pipes. Bolted on the front struts Routing the brake pipes One of the toughest jobs was to clip the plastic bracket around the rubber grommet that fit around the pipes. Real ball ache this one. Satisfying job though to feed the new pipe through the original fitments. Now to flange the pipes with the connectors. Hoping to get the front sub-frame assembled in next post ![]() -------------------- G A N Z 145

Hopefully the stats dictate you won't have another for a while if at all. My rear sliders seem ok. A little bit of pitting but nothing major that copper grease can't put amend. The thing about a project like this is every job is a major job and I have to do two or three of them to do at the same time otherwise I'll be here till 2016 ![]() -------------------- G A N Z 145

Nice work there m8 ![]() Cheers Mate! I'm loving this project. Just want to get it done and take it out on the race track!!!!!! I think I'm going to have to work night shifts to get it done. The thing about a rebuild is if you don't work on it at least once a week you can forget where everything goes. -------------------- G A N Z 145
