Gents

I've been replacing springs and shocks, due to rust. Had an issue with one of the two strut hub bolts on o/s/f - I bent it! Had to cut it off, but it wasn't the same as the other (or the ones on the near side). I'm guessing it was 'softer' then what it should be.

Problem is, where can I get a replacement? Googled part number (from eper) - nothing. Anyone know where I can get one, or got a spare one I could buy?

Cheers

Steve

That's bad luck, Steve-

and quite weird that you've drawn a blank on ePer;

have you tried FIAT/Alfa themselves? I've had quite a lot of suspension nuts & bolts out of them and nothing ever came up as NLA yet.

It 'should' just be quite a simple bolt; so not exactly a specialist part...

Hi Jim

I've got a part number from ePer, but googling and ebay draw a blank. I've emailed Mangoletsi - who I've had parts from in the past - but no response so far. I'll give my local Fiat dealer a call on Monday, see if they can help.

Tried AlfaShop, Alfa Workshop, Shop4Parts - nothing.

The bolt is M10x65, with 25mm thread. I assume it must be harder than standard, but I don't know. I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be able to bend it using an 18" breaker bar to undo it!

Cheers

Er yes-

when you put it like that, Steve

unless you are the Incredible Hulk- I wouldn't have thought an 18" breaker bar, would allow you to bend an M10!

good effort

and good point

fingers crossed for the main dealers then.. If they are open..

Hi, I'm not sure if it's the bolt you're after but I remember I saw these from Alfashop while looking for something else today;

Thanks Jeremy

That looks like the one I need! Shame they have none in stock. I've got a nut/bolt of the right size, 10.9 shore, so I'll fit that for now (not a lock nut, so bit of thread lock instead).

Car is SORNed while were in lockdown. I've been going into work in the Spider, the Freelander is used to take the dogs out.

Hi Malfarati

Thanks for your reply, but this is the ball joint pinch bolt - the one I need is the strut to hub bolt

Cheers

Hi Ganz

I'm doing ok thanks - nice to see you back here!

This is the bolt I bent - No. 2 in diagram. I've got a bolt of the correct size in currently, but the car is now on SORN while were locked down. I have other vehicles to use, so thought I'd do a few jobs on the old girl.

Hi Steve

I have got one spare. The reason I am not using it is because I managed to ordered two new ones when I was rebuilding the 145. I am still using two of the old ones on my car as like to keep as many of the original parts as possible. On this one I had to file some of the thread at the end to free it up from the nut. Nothing heavy as the nuts screws on to the bolt quite a bit so quite usable. Can't remember if this was the top or bottom bolt but I'm sure I can find out by looking at some old photo archives. I'll let you know about that.

PM me if you want it. I'm only going to ask for costs towards postage and packaging.
