Hello guys,
I installed on my 1.6 TS 120CV (***** 146 M1.5.5)
the variable geometry collector of 1.8 and 2.0.
On M1.5.5 it is possible to program
with the 1.8 file and everything works fine.
Electrical connections can be made very simply.
In the past few days I have also identified the maps of the phase variator and variable suction geometry and finally I was able to operate all the components with the only control unit;
The car is much more performance and ready to go up.
If anyone is interested in this change I can provide the file damos with all the maps for the M1.5.5 ECUs (the addresses are also compatible for some versions of 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0).
It is also very easy to scodificare the same unit and use it to insert all the files you want, just program with another file.
Contact me in private.
Regards

Hello Carmelo,

Well done on your achievment; I'm quite interested in that.

Did you source a variable intake manifold from another car? Do you have a picture of any of the work..?

Hello,
I used the variable geometry manifold of the 1.8 and 2.0 Twin Spark engines, with the 60mm throttle body (on the 1.6 is 55mm);
I made the electrical connections both to the M1.5.5 and to the relay box of the car, so as to transform everything perfectly as in 1.8 and 2.0;
I remapped the ECU in the right places
(Thanks to damos file), and the car goes it is a pleasure;
The management of the variable geometry must be changed appropriately via the control unit file;
I found the best compromise by activating
the geo-var already at 1600rpm and with 30% of throttle opening;
(from the original on the 1.6 file is disabled while on the 1.8 file the geo var is activated with 50% open throttle at 4000rpm).
Of course the Damos file I paid for it,
if you are interested contact me with private message.

I have several photos, but I can not put them in the forum ..

Hey Carmelo,

That sounds interesting; why can't you post pictures?

This is one of the best (non Facebook) forums for hosting pictures.. You don't need third-party file sharing or anything...

Here are some pictures of the open collector for cleaning
and then mounted on the car and tried ..
It is managed by the engine control unit of the car,
Bosch M1.5.5, if you are interested in something,
contact me in private.

From this change the 1.6 Twin Spark earns
a lot of torque at low engine revs,
and improves at high revolutions due to the larger throttle body;
The same modification on the ECU can also be done in the
1.8 and 2.0 where you change the intervention
of variable geometry:
from the original it is activated at low revs only by pressing fully
the accelerator, while it is possible
have long ducts that improve the couple
even with less butterfly opening
(Eg already at 30% throttle ...).

sorry no, Carmelo, those of us that are here, are still here!

what you've done is a real achievement, but you might find; on THIS resource, that the application for it, is very small

I'm not sure we have another 1.6 owner active anymore

In the U.K., the 'surviving' car; is the 2.0... As is often the case; as a model becomes rarer- it is the performance-versions that become coveted.

I understand...
Obviously the modification of the operation of the geo-var
it can also be implemented on 2.0;
In the case in which camshafts are mounted
with longer and more performing phases,
it is necessary to recover torque at low engine revs,
therefore the geo-var must be activated at certain values
throttle opening and engine rpm
to give more boost down ...
