Hy guys. I'm Vladimir and I'm from Bosnia. I had so many cars but I was always in love in Alfa 145. 4 months ago I final buy one. It's 1.6 ts engine with 12o up. I buy from my neighbor and he was a first owner. Lucky me, but... I have few problems with a car.
First is that in neutral speed idle going from 5oo to 15oo.
Second is power. Should going much better (120 hp),
Third is fuel consumption (9.5 open road, 8o-120 km/h)
Fourth is power uphill, I must put in third gear even if hill is not so big. I changed timing belt and oil and 4 sparks (big). Any ideas?

Hi. I tried to unplug maf and lambda and it's the same. Idle is mostly OK till temperature is under 9o. The moment when touch 9o idle start to jumping from 5oo-1500 rpm. I'm gone check with diagnosis for problems but biggest problem is I think fuel consumption. It's around 11l open road and normal driving.
Diagnosis should tell if is maf bad?
Many thanks anyway

Have you tried cleaning the idle control valve?

Hi. No, I didn't clean that valve. Can I do it by myself? Location? The biggest concern is that uphill car goes let say like golf mk2 1.6d. No offence. The main problem is that I don't have good mechanic in my town so I must go 2ookm away for diagnosis. Thanks

Have you cleaned inside the intake. Try some injector cleaner. Fuel consumption.. is it running on all four cylinders? You would notice I am sure if it was knackered ignition coil. I had an ignition coil fail on my 147 and the fuel consumption went crazy. Run the Fiat Multiscan diagnostics on it and it will tell you the probs.

No, I didn't clean any of that things. When I buy car incident was a sport air filter and I change that, it's original now. I was thinking that problem is that filter but fuel consumption was OK with that air filter. I'm gone try with some additive to clean injectors. Thank for recommendation a program. I must fiks Alfa, it's my love. Any more suggestions? Thanks guys

UPDATE : I didn't do anything in last two days, but last two days machine work just fine. Suddenly idle is steady, no jumping, standing on cca 1ooo rpm. It seems that going very good also. Only thing now is fuel consumption. Anyway, I wish that Alfa have self recovery program but I'm just waiting when again will symptoms be back. Any ideas now what bodering my car? Thanks in advance

Hello Alfista! I have an Alfa 146 boxer 1.6 of 8v 10 years ago and I know something of its manias ....... The problem of RPM 500 to 1500 is the IAC valve กกกกกกกกก is on the manifold of admission to your right hand front only 2 screws clean sacks with cleaner w 40 do not touch the tip just spray and clean with a soft cloth if you need it, then clean all the way of your admission, resonator, filter air, air mass sensor / (eye the mass air sensor is a needle that goes inside the air tube before entering the manifold, it is not touched and it is only cleaned with clean contact that is dielectric, eye that also This cables are very easy to cut or rub if they are cut or rub the power decreases.Refer to consumption do not expect more than 12.5 to 13 km / l ........ this car does that, well I I accelerate up to 4000 rpm always in all the gears and walks impeccable ........ so I know that consumption could improve if I floor men the pedal .- now anyway change spark plugs every 10,000 km maximum 20,000 km your car will thank you ..... depends on the mileage you must put 10w40 plus some additive to the oil after 250,000 km if you do not have a 10w40 must walk well look at the quality.-

Good Look กกกก

Hello. Thank you so much for details. I'm gone try clean all of that, step by step... Anyway, big service, including sparks and cables is done before 1oooo km. Oil and filters before 5000. I think that problem is somehow connected with fuel consumption because I was driving very slow. Change gears around 3000rpm and she spend 11l per 100km. I think that's to much. Could it be bad maf?

When I videoed my engine starting up you can hear it going up and down in revs. The next time I started the engine at tickover it shot up to 3000rpm and I shut the engine down. I ran the FiatMultiscan software on it using the OBD I set of connectors and the software on Windows XP and it detected an error on this component below which is an injector sensor of some sort. See below:

This is a really expensive part to replace. Luckily, my engine never showed these symptoms again and has been fine. I can only attribute it to something blocking the injectors or a sticking butterfly flap in the intake. My mate had a similar symptom on his Toyota where he would be at the lights and the revs would just shoot up. He cleaned the intake and put some injector cleaner in the tank and his engine has been good ever since.

Hello, well thanks for post mate. I think it's must be something around air intake. Last year Alfa has a full service, everything incide engine was replaced with new parts. When I start car there is no problems, fire up just fine and stay around 1000 rpm. After a little warm up beginning jump from cca 6oo-1300. Sometimes stay steady at 900 even after warm up. And as I posted before, power and fuel consumption are I think following problems. Any more idea before diagnostic programs? Thanks again
