Hi
Just returning to the forum after a “145 less” break, with a new project !!!
Welding required in usual places, but not too excessive, will post more progress pictures of better quality as the project gathers pace.

145man,

Nice to see you on here!

That's my Phase 2 I recently passed on very reluctantly. Looking forward to seeing it back in shape and back on the road.

Welding isnt my strong point, but now would be a good time to practice.
Problem is my brother is a panel beater and an excellent welder and fabricator, so it makes sense to let him do it properly.
When he's finished you wont even be able to see where the new metal was welded in.

Good to see another potential project on the 145 forum. The 145 is not a comicated car to work on and its rarity mean other people will notice you. Its funny to see the Giulia owners wanting to tailgate that Alfa they've not seen before.

As you can see a small hole in passenger foot well and a couple of other minor floor issues, fibre glass filler used in rear foot well will be cut out and new metal welded in.
Area behind front strut (passenger side) where the brake lines/ unions are will need a plate welding in. The other side has been done as has the floor on the drivers side.

Removing rear subframe which is in a bit of a state, this job is a real PITA as every nut and bolt seams to be seized. I have another subframe in reasonable condition that I plan to replace the pivot bolts and bearings together with the bushes, judging by the state of the existing brake lines I probably will end up replacing them.
I will of course clean it up and hammerite/ powder coat it, new spring and shocks have also been ordered.
I will then turn my attention to the front suspension.
The list of parts is getting ever longer!!!!

Photos didnt show, and keep displaying sideways ?

Rear subframe has now been stripped and has been returned from the media blasters, top part is being powder coated. The rear arms have been Hammerited ready for the pivot bearings to be replaced. New springs, shocks, bushes and flexible brake lines have been delivered once powder coaters have finished it will be ready to assemble.

Good crikey- you don't muck about!

'get in there!'

wow- what progress...

good effort on the prep...

pretty scary on the NSF footwell; but we've all faced that- mine has had it down both sides

I did three separate garage visits, JUST for welding, this year...

Found rust in the n/s chassis leg so have decided to remove engine to make access easier.
Will take this opportunity to do a proper tidy up in the engine bay and make changing belts etc easier when
the engine is out.
This is turning out to be more work than I expected!!!

Very thorough

I've got some rust that needs attending on the OS inner wing, underneath the washer fluid reservoir myself as it happens.

I was toying with taking the wing off the reach it properly.

Hey; I see you've got AC!

Tell me if you've got a pair of cables, white-taped back onto the loom, underneath the battery, please! It's a mystery what mine could have been for...

Hi All

Latest update, most of the welding has been completed, the engine stripped and painted front shocks have been assembled. Im waiting for new wishbones drop links and track rod ends as I had to remove the front subframe to weld the chassis leg, so decided to change those items whilst the subframe is out and access is easy.
Next step is to remove rear subframe to check for rust/ rot and repair. I will then overhall the rear subframe components (already pruchased and ready to go)!!

in a word 'w-o-w'...

well, that makes a laughing stock of my efforts.

what a terrific result- it literally looks new.

Can you do me a favour 145man?- if the car is still in this state; could you get me a couple of pictures of the OS wing inside; where the windscreen-washer bottle sits- from above and below, please..?
as previously mentioned- I'm facing a bit of corrosion there; and I'm having a bit of trouble differentiating body parts...

Just had a very good 146 drivers seat delivered. Obviously it doesn’t have the tilt mechanism that a 145 seat has, but I have taken the very worn seat cover and foam off the original seat and swapped it with the 146 seat. Now I have a very good tilting seat for my car - well pleased with myself!!!!

hey 145 man-

THANKYOU!

I'm sorry- I don't know how I missed your post with the pictures

If I can really take the p*ss, and if you are feeling generous- could I ask you for one more of the first picture, but with the camera further 'into the car' (by 6 inches) and pointing down the way..?

I can see the part I need to know about, at the bottom of your frame, in that image

Pm sent
