Alfa Romeo 145 - 146 Forum _ You & Your Car _ Black Ph1 145 QV resuscitation

Driving home today, the brake warning light came on for the second time - it was low on fluid last time, and the same again today.

Given that I'd noticed the clutch was starting to engage with the pedal quite close to the floor, I had a quick peek at the clutch slave cylinder - and sure enough, there was a pool of fluid below it on the gearbox casing.

Luckily I have a secondhand replacement in my parts bin... from a time several years ago when I was considering buying a 146ti that had a failed clutch (I was hoping it might just be the slave, but the clutch unit itself had failed. So I didn't buy it - shame, as it was a rather nice dark grey metallic colour with a black leather interior.)

Anyway - another little job to do at the weekend... the workshop manual recommends removing the battery and the battery tray to get access to the slave cylinder - might be a good opportunity to treat some rust on the chassis leg that side...
