Ok, time for an update.....

My job situation has settled down and is going well, but the house hunting is proving to be a royal pain in the a**e so is temporarily on hold. So:

Time off work = booked
Car ferry = booked
Hotel near the Ring = booked

All of which can only mean one thing - I'm going to the 'Ring in June. Yeah baby! biggrin.gif

Some bad news though: I will not be Alfa-powered this time. I sold the GTV a couple of weeks ago to buy something smaller and less powerful, and much more economical too. More about that at a later time, maybe wink.gif smile.gif.

I'll just add a little more detail about my arrangements for the trip.

Ferry - Your sailing was fully booked so I am on the 8am boat on thursday morning from Dover to Dunquerque. This means that I will be driving up the day before and staying in a B&B near Dover to give me a fighting chance of getting to the port on time. Rather than wait 2 hours for you lot to catch up I'll start making my way slowly towards Germany. I won't be going quickly so you may catch me up anyway wink.gif. If I get there before you I'll check into my hotel and then meet you by the Grune Holle in time for some evening lappery. I am on the same return sailing as you.

Hotel - I've gone for the Eifelstube again, same as last year. This is a little out of the way, just outside Adenau, but I really enjoyed it there last time. The 10km drive to the track in the morning will also mean that I arrive fully warmed up and ready for action.

Only five weeks to go...... biggrin.gif

We all got emails from Norfolkline yesterday, informing us that 'due to maintenence' the 10am one is cancelled. This happened last May, they binned my 8am one, so we had to get the 10am one.......

We've been shoved onto the flippin' 12 noon one, which means that we won't get to Nurburg till at least 7.30 angry.gif

Am currently toying with going for the 8am one....

Right, have gone ahead and changed my booking to the 8am one.

The 12noon one was just not ideal for me, ie hitting Brussells and/or Liege rush-hour and even if traffic isn't too bad, not getting to Nurburg until around 8-9pm, thereby missing the evening session. no3.gif

So, seeing as there's no way I can realistically drive 200 miles from Dorset to Dover, to catch the 8am one, I'll have to sort out a cheap B&B in Dover as well. Joel, have you booked one yet?

Pimp.....some beers on that Wednesday night sound good chap.... smile.gif

Cool, nice one V.......yes, the Zurburg is just over the other side of the 'main' road in the village and whilst I may be wrong, I think it's owned by the same family as the Pension Daniels.

If memory serves GTV Nutter has stayed in the Zurburg before....

Yup, I stayed there on my first 2 visits. It's a bit basic, but the rooms are a decent size, clean, and they do a good spread for breakfast.

I'm sticking with the 12pm crossing, since I have a faster car than you, I imagine I will arrive at the same time. harhar1.gif

Seriously, I'd written off the first day as travelling, so I'm happy to stick with the 12pm crossing and drive down on the morning of the crossing. smile.gif

I was there last weekend

And cant wait to go again.

Might be up for this trip.

I left it till the last minute for last weekends trip and booked my ferry the night before (£46 dover-dunqurke) so may do the same again.

I travelled through the night, midnight ferry then a few hours kip the other side of brussels and got to the ring for about 11am.

What times is the ring open over that weekend?

There's some more scoop pictures of the 8C, plus prototype 500 Abarth, a couple of other new Alfas, Ferrari, Lambo, Jags, lots of AMG Mercs, Porkers (including the GT2) BM's etc on this site.....it's pure ****.
