Alfa Romeo 145 - 146 Forum _ You & Your Car _ The great 145/6 gathering of 2019

Let's sketch out in the sand a concept for a meetup.

You gents all have something of an advantage on me as I type this from North of the Border- but let's start with a show of hands and locations; then we 'might' be able to plan towards a middle point in the country.

Please add your name & location, and we can throw some darts at a map of the U.K.

here is how it's panning out so far- apologies for those who's pins have disappeared under other people's pins; you lucky folk; you must live near to another owner!

Sorry- I can't quite get a scale to show the lower part of the country in enough detail; it's either too close; or too far out

But generally it gives an initial feel for where people are

Posted by: dante giacosa 24th January 2019 07:31

Yeah, 'probably'...

I'm thinking May

Posted by: dante giacosa 24th January 2019 13:24

okay-

well broadly speaking;

the timing & location of such an event might come down to whether we fancy a forum-based meetup, or something piggy backed onto a wider more established meet of some kind.

(I daresay we could reach out to the wider Alfa 145 / 6 community also; to further swell interest)

with full credit to the AROC listings; the more established meets might include;

Spring Alfa Day at Beaulieu on the 14th April

Donnington Historics in Derby on May 3rd > 5th

Brooklands Auto Italia in Weybridge on 4th May

SouthWest Alfa Day at Beaminster on 19th May

Cotswold Alfa Day at Compton Verney on the 16th June

National Alfa Day at Bicester on the 19th June

(and then on and on)

each of these events is of course more or less convenient depending on where you live- OR we can dance to our own tune and do something in the middle of the country which is relatively convenient for everyone.
Looking at the locations of the 'fringe' members (geographically); the relative distance between Vroom in North Wales & MrMarkyt in Brighton is 205 miles as-the-crow-flies, and between SteveG in Bridgewater & Sanitary in Hull is 211 miles. So each of those folk are going to have to travel 'about' 100 miles to a central spot- IF we did it like that...

what'd'ya think?

revised map shows Donnington (upper red pin) and Bicester (lower red pin)

Hi All

I can be flexible, donít mind travelling, over the years gone to many shows in the north of England from Colchester, even Holland a couple of times so distance for me is not an issue. I am away mid to end of June taking my Alfasud to Lake Garda, returning in time for National Alfa Day.

You don't mention how many hundreds of miles it will be for you Jim!! You'd be looking at 500ish to Beaminster?

I've got no problem travelling a few miles. Donnington sounds like an interesting event - discount tickets available from AROC. How many of us are AROC members? I am.

Posted by: JeremyG 25th January 2019 18:00

I'm almost certainly going to both Donington in May and National Alfa Day in June so very happy to meet up with you guys at either or both!

Plus, I'll be on a road trip to Italy in mid-July that has got "Alfa 166" written all over it (except annoyingly I've just realised it will clash with the British GP weekend... unsure.gif )

If we really want to do this, I'm AROC organiser for the Yorkshire Section. We're just about to go to press with the announcement for our fourth annual Italian Car and Motorcycle Day (ITCAM 4) at Newby Hall near Ripon on June 2 that we organise each year. The venue is ideally located just off the A1 so access is no problem.

Setting aside an area for the 145s and 146s wouldn't be a problem so you can consider it done. More news on the event very soon.

An idea of numbers would be handy so let me know if you're interested. It'd be nice to have our 145s and 146s as the featured model at ITCAM 4.

Yes, that is a good offer. We should check out the other regional AROC groups to see what other events are taking place.

For example: Cotswolds AROC are holding their annual meeting near Stratford-Upon-Avon in mid June.

Posted by: Ganz 26th January 2019 22:06

This is looking good. I'm ok on the travelling. I'm ok with the Yorkshire Italian do as it's nearer to yourself. It would be nice invade the Spring Alfa Day en mass but I appreciate it's in Hampshire. A show of force at an AROC event though I am not a member would be good. Be cool to show that 145 and 146s are kicking ass ohyes.gif

Just updating the events calendar with postcode info so we can figure out journey times:

April:

Sun 14: Spring Alfa Day, Beaulieu, SO42 7ZN

May:

Fri 3-Sun 5: Donington Historic Festival, Derby, DE74 2RP

Sat 4: Brooklands Auto Italia, Weybridge, KT13 0QN

Sun 19: SouthWest Alfa Day, Beaminster, DT8 3NR

Sun 26: Scottish Italia Car Day, Edinburgh, EH30 9SL

June:

Sun 2: ITCAM4 (Yorks AROC), Newby Hall, Ripon, HG4 5AE

Sun 16: Cotswold Alfa Day, Compton Verney, CV35 9HZ (also Father's Day, apparently...)

Sun 30: National Alfa Day, Bicester, OX26 5HA

July:

Fri 26-Sun 28: Silverstone Classic, Silverstone, NN12 8TN

August:

Sun 18: Festival Italia, Brands Hatch, DA3 8NG

Posted by: dante giacosa 6th February 2019 10:05

thanks for that, Jeremy; that's invaluable!

Posted by: JeremyG 6th February 2019 10:54

For me, the closest events (all less than an hour away) are:

16 June - Cotswold Alfa Day
30 June - National Alfa Day
26/28 July - Silverstone Classic

I could also do Spring Alfa Day in April and Donington in May (1.5 and 1.75 hours away)

But much as I love visiting Yorkshire, ITCAM4 at Newby Hall is 3.5 hours away - and SWAD at Beaminster is marginal at 2.5 hours away...

Decisions, decisions...

What works best for the guys in the South?

Posted by: JeremyG 6th February 2019 13:45

In fact - I'm going to lock this down now. My twin sons are doing their GCSEs this summer, so May and early June are going to be spent "assisting" them with their revision. rolleyes.gif

So I'm going to head for Spring Alfa Day on April 14, National Alfa Day on June 30 and more than likely Cotswolds Alfa Day on 16 June.

How about the rest of you?

Hi All.

So many enthusiastic 145 / 146 owners is fantastic to see.

Brooklands Auto Italia is easy for me, so is Beaulieu Southern Alfa Day. As an AROC member, SWAD at Beaminster is news to me, Beaminster is a lovely little town, I know it well [Cracked my sump on the road up to Pilsden Pen] If its a bit far, Beaminster/west bay/bridport/Lyme Regis is a popular tourist/holiday place, you could easily make a weekend of it.

I will try and get to any centrally organised meeting
