Hi all,

I own a 1995 Alfa Romeo Spider and Iím here to get some suggestions regarding performance modification. I was in search of an expert car maintenance service in Toronto. I am expecting replies from the owners who have done any kind of performance modifications to their car.

Iím planning to install a Supercharger or Turbo kit. But I donít have a clear idea about the difference between this two. Which one will help us to get more power? Please share your experience. Waiting for your reply.

although your spider has some engine compatibility with the 145/146, you might be on the wrong forum to address your query in detail..

However, 'welcome along' none the less!

Welcome, a few of us (like myself) have been around the block a few times with these cars. My advice, save your money on the Twinspark engine if you want more than 160hp. The 145 / 146 Chasis's are shared with the Tipo / Fiat Coupe etc... So, therefore the Fiat Coupe 16V Turbo and 20V Turbo engines are a direct fitment.
Speaking from experience on having owned the 20VT and driven in the 16VT, both are rather fast but the 20VT noise (and power) matches the unique character of the 145's looks. Also, it can be VERY easy to hit 300 HP in the 20VT.

You could throw a lot of money in the CF2 / 3 engine... which suffer from bottom end bearing shell premature failure on number 3 (due to being so close to the exhaust and suffering from heat soak). Maybe 2 or 3 HP from an air filter for £50, another 2 or 3 from an exhaust system which is already pretty up there with performance. There have been a couple of people on here before add a turbocharger or supercharger, the only one I remember off hand is Paddy280hp but that was in a 147 CF3 2.0 TS. He started to make some real high power but that guy had a lot of money to throw at cars with custom carbon fiber panels etc.

as well some of the members are doing the coupe 20VT conversion and as the 145 and 155 use the same chassis there should be loads of info on this
