Mine has lowered stiffened springs on, not a massive drop but it still scrapes on stuff.

Would recommend it tho they are a bit wobbly otherwise, quite a bit of body roll in my opinion on the standard springs, this seemed to sort it out.

Don't know if anyone else will agree but might be an idea to have the exhaust guard binned if you're lowering your ride as whilst protecting the downpipe it is often the cause that rips the sump to bits, when caught.

........this is precisely what happened to my 145 when I sumped it. My friendly Alfa specialist who did the repairs recommended it as it allows a bit more clearance and they do so on the lots of other 156s that have new sumps fitted by them!

Just a thought......correct me if I'm wrong guys!

Well all I can say is that my trusted Alfa specialist heartily recommended its removal, when putting a new sump on, claiming it gives a crucial extra couple of centimetres of clearance.

I haven't had any problems with the downpipe or lost another sump since the guard was removed about 18 months ago, it hasn't been hit, even when the sump has had a bit of scrape action on big speedhumps.

Not sure if you want to go down this route, but worth looking into and seeing what others reckon......

I removed mine on my new sump - when you actually look at what it does it's pointless - it would make more sense to have it protecting the verticl - horizontal curve of the down pipe, not half way along it!

Websites are like a**eholes, everyone has one, and im wary of any bloke trying to direct people into their's.

The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride...' And we ... kill those people.

my qv bottoms out on speed humps already, and I haven't even lowered it yet. Do you think the council would pay for a new sump if I damage it? Will they heck..

Depends how many spare sumps you have biggrin.gif

HAHAHHAHA
That's a good and realistic point of view!
I wouldn't lower my 145 in any height!
I would like to make it stiffer.... without lowering it. However, all the stiffer coils (Eibach for example) will lower my car.
So... let it original! hehehe

cheers

In Brazil almost all 145s have a sump guard!
Mine ones do not have it though!

They make it (I've heard) changing a bit the sump guard from the Fiat Tipo!

Take a look:

Cheers!
