Every now and again, and in the pictures in the brochure, I see an image of the rear cabin of a 146- and it has something that mine hasn't got.

A rear air vent in the back end of the centre console.

It does not appear to be (exclusively) a facelift-interior feature; and cars with square air vents have it- but mine doesn't.

Admittedly a lot of the cars (if not in fact all of then) have been left hand drive.

Can ANYONE say if they have one of these- and even better; how it is plumbed into the cabin ventilation system..?

Hi Jim, as you asked me on AO, here I have some info for you. I think RHD cars never had rear air vents on centre console, but LHD had it since the birth of 145/6s. Here I have some pics from my father's 146 Boxer 16v

In this one you can see the tubing inside the console

Then this is the rear air vent of my 146 Ti facelift, just the same

And a capture taken from the Workshop manual

What I can't say you is if it can be retrofitted to RHD models, maybe your climatization box does not have outlets for this vent or maybe they are blanked. Another option is to use the footwell's outlets to this rear vent.

That ducting certainly doesn't exist on any of the UK cars that I've seen. It's possible that it could be retrofitted, assuming that the parts can be sourced from somewhere and there isn't some fundamental reason why the vent won't fit in a RHD car. Maybe there is something else under that side of the centre console in a RHD car that prevents it being fitted. I don't know.

dante giacosa, sent you PM regarding rear passenger vents.

What I see from ePER, ducting for rear passengers is same for EU/UK without A/C. When there's A/C - ducting goes just for EU spec cars. Must be some difference between blower unit.

Ducting goes around handbrake and connects just under center console - I'll try make some pictures tomorrow.
